Healthcare for the Homeless

To help with donations for the homeless community healthcare, please visit the donations page or if you prefer, the community center where we work also provides day care, clothing and case management so donations of clothes, gloves, underwear, hand warmers etc. are always most welcome. Thank you!

Homelessness is an endemic problem. Virtually every city has a homeless population, including Kansas City where Health Outreach Foundation got its beginnings in 2004. Healthcare options for the homeless are extremely limited and living on the streets is extraordinarily detrimental to physical and mental welfare. Given those circumstances and without insurance or other resources, sometimes the only option for these patients is a local Emergency Room.

Since 2013 HOF has worked in partnership with other local nonprofits serving the homeless including Street Medicine Kansas City and Artists Helping the Homeless, to provide a primary care service for medical and dental services. These primary care services are free to those in need. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome.

The current COVID-19 crisis has greatly impacted all us. From our health partners and volunteers to our patients all around the world, we are all hurting but we are all in this together. This is especially true concerning our patients here in Kansas City. In light of CDC guidelines, we have introduced Telehealth services. These Telehealth services will then continue to form a central part of our services for those in need in Kansas City (even when we can all see each other again).
